Wage Loss Analysis/ Labor Market Access
The rehabilitation counselors at Analytic Rehabilitation prepare Wage Loss Analysis and Labor Market Access studies for persons who, because of an impairment, are seeking occupations that they are likely to be successful in. General statistical studies regarding broad, poorly defined, and inappropriate mass grouping of people suggesting commonality are avoided. An Analytic Rehabilitation client is viewed from a stand point of what they can do, not what they can't do within the limitations of their impairment. Each case is individualized according to the person's unique circumstances.
The rehabilitation counselors at Analytic Rehabilitation utilize information provided by the impaired person, or their family members, along with appropriate employment records to obtain an educational and vocational history. Additional information may be derived from formal testing and evaluation procedures in order to offer appropriate occupational choices to the person in light of his or her circumstances.
Extensive reference to public resources such as the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Dictionary of Occupational Titles, the Occupational Outlook Handbook, O*Net and information from the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census is taken into account to assess the transferable skills, interests, aptitudes and education the person realistically possesses.
Computers are used extensively to help sort the voluminous data available from public information sources into manageable relevant lists. The process provides broad potential occupational choices given the background information provided by the client. Once the preliminary lists are obtained, a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and vocational evaluator refines the preliminary lists into a selection of likely successful occupations for the client to consider.
Once the occupational choice has been made by the client, rehabilitation counselors can identify appropriate training sources and make referrals. Assistance in funding the training may be available from the California Department of Rehabilitation. For client needs beyond the occupational arena, a life care plan may be needed.
